Varley Electric Vehicles, a division of the Varley Group, has launched the evR-450, Australia’s first electric supercar.
According to the carmaker, the hand-built evR-450 is developed on an aluminum monocoque chassis and powered by twin carbon ironless core AC motors.
Power comes from a 24 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that manages to offer a driving range of up to 100 miles or 160 km, before having to recharge. A full charge takes eight hours using a standard 15A power point. The carmaker will consider faster charging capabilities in future products.
The evR-450 will enter production and the model will be available for customers in 2012. Rumors say that the electric supercar will be priced at $207,120.
As a reminder, the evR-450 can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and hit an electronically-limited top speed of 200 km/h. The company also offers a second version, it is expected to have a top speed of 160 km/h and a total range of up to 300 km/h.
