According the a recent rumor, Toyota is working on a beefed up version of the GT 86.
The chief engineer of the GT 86 project, Tetsu Tada has confirmed the hotter model is well past the consideration stage, in which multiple prototypes are being tested.
As we have previously reported, Subaru is expected to release a high performance of the BRZ, which is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter naturally aspirated 4-cylinder boxer engine with 300 hp. So the existing chassis is believed to be strong enough to cope with the extra power, but the supercharged GT 86 will obviously receive an improved suspension system.
In addition, Tada also revealed some performance specifications on the GT 86. Accordingly, the model accelerates from 0-100 km/h around 6.8 seconds and hit a top speed of 230 km/h.
