Lada Granta launched in Russia

Lada has revealed the Granta budget car in Russia, the replacer for the Samara, which has been on the local auto market ever since 1997.

According to the Russian automaker, the new Granta can be bought for the equivalent of $7,500. However, for an extra $1,000, Lada will offer for you a superior trim level, which brings power steering and windows, as well as a sound system.

Power comes from a 1.6-liter engine with two valves per cylinder and 64 hp, but Lada will also introduce a 1.4-liter engine with four valves per cylinder, but there’s no official word on the output.

In addition, Lada will create a racing version for the World Touring Car Championship in order to promote the car.
