Hyundai Elantra coming to Malaysia in 2012


Hyundai has announced plans to release the Elantra in Malaysia in early 2012.

According to the Korean carmaker, the Elantra will come with a choice of two petrol engines, a 1.8-liter and a 1.6-liter, MPIs. Hyundai says that the 1.6-liter Gamma MPI engine will develop 130 hp at 6,300 rpm, while the 1.8-liter Nu MPI engine is produces 150 hp at 6,500 rpm. Both engines are mated to a six-speed transmission.

In related news, the Elantra Coupe will be unveiled at the 2012 Chicago Motor Show in February. However, there is no official word on the performance and fuel consumption for this model.
