For the most part, the car looks almost identical to the 6 Series coupe but highlights include xenon headlights and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the cabin is luxuriously appointed with Dakota leather, heated front seats and dual-zone automatic climate control. Standard features include ceramic accents, GPS navigation, a Connected Driver, rear-view camera, BMW Night Vision, Lane Departure Warning, Active Blind Spot Detection, and a Bang & Olufsen audio system. There's also a "4 1" seating arrangement and the luggage compartment has 460-liter (16.2 cubic feet) of space.

Under the hood, three engines are available, all linked to a standard 8-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive is standard:

First, the 640i has a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six petrol with 320 hp and 450 Nm of torque, allowing the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.4 seconds and hit a top speed of 250 km/h.

Next, the 650i comes with a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 gasoline engine with 450 hp and 650 Nm of torque, allowing the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and hit a top speed of 250 km/h. It will be available from launch in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.

Lastly, the 640d features a 3.0-liter turbo diesel engine with 313 hp and 630 Nm of torque, allowing the car to run from 0-100 km/h in 5.4 seconds and hit a top speed of 250 km/h.

The 2013 BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe will make its world premiere at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show next March. Pricing start at £61,380 for the 640i SE and rise to £75,130 for the 650i M Sport.
