According to the Japanese carmaker, the 2012 XV is available in two trim levels. First up, the 1.6-liter petrol engine will develop a total output of 114 hp, mated to a five-speed manual transmission as standard, but customers can also chose the CVT.
Next, the 2.0-liter diesel engine will produce a total output of 147 hp, allowing the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 9.3 seconds and hit a top speed of 198 km/h. Subaru says the engine is offering a combined fuel economy of 5.6-liter every 100 km (42 mpg).
The top of the line version will cost AUD38,000 and the entry-level will start at AUD32,000, which is significantly cheaper than the base Forester.
