Mazda to build vehicles in Russia with Sollers

Mazda has announced plans to build cars in Russia in a joint venture with Russia’s OJSC Sollers.

Accordingly, the Japanese automaker has signed a memorandum of understanding with Sollers to establish a joint-venture production facility in Vladivostok, in Russia’s Far Eastern Federal District. The plant will build Mazda models for the Russian market, with around 25,000 cars a year.

In the first nine months of this year, Mazda sold around 28,000 vehicles in Russia - a 77% increase over the same period last year. With the results achieved, Russia has become Mazda’s second biggest market in Europe after Germany.
