Ford to introduce 20 new engines in China by 2015

Ford on Monday said that it will introduce 20 new engines and transmissions in China by 2015 to improve fuel economy and cut emissions.

The move will increase the fuel economy of Ford’s passenger vehicle fleet in China by more than 20% by 2015 and reduce tailpipe carbon dioxide emissions by 20%.

The new products include an all-new 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine and it will support Ford's plan to introduce 15 new vehicles in China during the period.

By 2013, the U.S. carmaker plans to produce 1.5 million EcoBoost engines per year worldwide. This engine will be built in China, as well, to power small and midsize vehicles to be sold in the region.
