BMW i3 and i8 concepts coming to Tokyo Motor Show


BMW has recently announced that the i3 and i8 concepts will be officially presented at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show in December.

According to the German automaker, the i3 features an electric motor with 170 hp and 250 Nm of torque, allowing the four-seat to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 150 km/h. The i3 has an everyday range of 150 km.

The i8 features an electric motor which found on the i3 and a new three-cylinder engine, with a total output of 349 hp and 550 Nm of torque, allowing the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h. The concept boasts fuel consumption of under 3-liter per 100 km. The plug-in hybrid can recharge its battery in 1.45 hours and allows a range of up to 35 kilometers in electric mode.
