According to a report from Auto Express, Alfa Romeo is planning a new spider model that will compete with the Mazda MX-5.
The two-seat will replace the now-defunct Brera Spider and will also celebrate the returning of the company to the U.S. after more than 15 years. It will be powered by a 1.7-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with around 150 hp.
The report also said that Alfa Romeo is currently working on a new chassis with weight-saving technology for the spider model and aiming for a curb weight of less than 1,000 kg.
