Mitsubishi has presented the 2012 Mirage and the Concept PX-MiEV II in Tokyo.
The PX-MiEV concept has a plug-in hybrid powertrain with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine and two 60 kW electric motors. At low speeds, the PX-MiEV concept can operate in EV mode for up to 50 km (31 miles), and when the battery is low, the crossover enters a Series Hybrid Mode which is activating the petrol engine to recharge the battery. At highway speeds, the PX-MiEV II enters a Parallel Hybrid Mode where the petrol engine and both electric motors are working together. The PX-MiEV II has a combined fuel consumption of 60 km/liter and a total range of 800 km (497 miles).
