The Mazda CX-5 SUV has been presented to the public at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
According to the Japanese automaker, the CX-5 is a shorter-wheelbase version of the CX-7 SUV and features Mazda's new Kodo (Soul of Motion) design language.
In the U.S., the 5-seat comes with a SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter gasoline engine with 155 hp at 6,000 rpm and 150 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm. Customers will have a choice of two transmissions: a six-speed automatic or a six-speed manual transmission, with the all-wheel drive being available only with the automatic transmission.
Mazda said that the CX-5 can achieve 26/33 mpg city/highway for the FWD model with a manual gearbox, 26/32 mpg city/highway for the FWD model with an automatic transmission, while the all-wheel drive version will get 25/30 mpg city/highway.
The 2013 Mazda CX-5 is expected to hit the dealerships early next year.
