According to Autocar, Tesla will unveil the Model X crossover before the end of the year, ahead of the 2012 Detroit Auto Show next January.
Based on the Model S sedan, the Model X will be a seven-seat crossover/SUV with two rear-facing seats mounted in the boot.
“The time is right to unveil the car,” said Tesla CEO Elon Musk. “I’ve seen the latest design for it and I’m very happy with it.”
The Tesla Model X is scheduled to go to production in 2013 at Tesla's plant in Fremont, California.
