Opel plans to become an electric mobility leader

In a recent interview with Automotive News, Opel's sales and marketing chief Alain Visser revealed the company wants to "be the market leader in electric mobility".

The executive also said "By the year's end, Opel will decide whether to bring the RAK-e concept into regular production". If it is green-lighted, it could reach the market as early as 2013. The RAK-e could be priced from approximately €10,000 ($14,030) and may be built by KTM subsidiary Kiska in Salzburg, Austria.

In addition, Opel is working on an electric minicar. The car most probably will be a sister model to the electric version of the Chevrolet Spark minicar.
