Mercedes A-Class Convertible coming in 2012

According to a report from Autoexpress, Mercedes-Benz is working on a convertible version of the A-Class.
Expected to go on sale next year, the model will compete with the BMW 1-Series Convertible, Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet and Audi A3 Cabriolet. Besides, Autoexpress also says the Mercedes will also launch a rival to the BMW X1 and the BLS (a four-door coupe based on the luxurious CLS).
The engine is expected to comprise of a 1.6-liter petrol and a 1.8-liter diesel, with 109 or 136 hp, along with a larger turbo engine with 200 hp. In addition, the AMG version is also coming with 350 hp and all-wheel drive.
The Mercedes A-Class Convertible will likely be unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.
