Mercedes-Benz plans to invest $350 million and create some 400 new jobs at the Alabama plant in Tuscaloosa, to build a rival for the BMW X6.
Called the MLC, the new model will have nothing in common with the BMW, being based on the lines of the four-door coupe CLS.
“This new model from the Tuscaloosa plant is an important element of our growth strategy," Daimler Chief Executive Dieter Zetsche said Friday in a statement. "It is one of the ten additional models which we will introduce within the next four years alone across all segments."
The Mercedes-Benz MLC will be produced in 2015 and it seems that it will be priced at around €75,000.
