Toyota will spend $388 million to build a second assembly plant in Indonesia that would double the local unit’s production capacity, with 200,000 units per year
The factory will be built in Karawang, West Java, adjacent to Toyota’s existing factory in 2013.
With this plant, Toyota will boost production capacity to 140,000 vehicles a year in early 2013 from 110,000 units. Toyota will likely produce the Yaris and Etios Liva at this plant.
In 2010, Toyota has led the market in Indonesia with a 36% market share. The company sold 764,000 units.
