Once again, the Ford Fiesta was the highest selling car in August with a total of 3,213 registrations. Despite the good news of the small sales hike, the SMMT were quick to highlight that caution should be shown when predicting whether the new car market would continue to improve. During the 13 months leading up to August new car sales figures had consistently declined.
So what accounted for the sudden upward surge in the August new car sales figures? A major cause was the sudden jump by 17.6% witnessed in the Supermini segment, which altogether accounted for a significant 37.3% of the sales that made August such a success.
