Mazda introduces new CX-5 Compact SUV

Mazda has introduced the new CX-5 compact SUV ahead of the 64th Frankfurt Motor Show.

Based on the Minagi Concept unveiled at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show and is a shorter-wheelbase version of the CX-7. The car also features Mazda's new "KODO - Soul of Motion" design language.


Mazda says the new CX-5 is the first model to adopt the full range its new SKYACTIV technology - meant to create more fuel-efficient vehicles. The CX-5 will have CO2 emissions below 120 g/km.

Depending on the market, the CX-5 will be available with gasoline and diesel engines linked up to manual and automatic transmissions.

The CX-5 will debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show that opens on September 13 and will go on sale in early 2012.
