Maruti Suzuki to Introduce 20 New Models in 5 years

According to an internal sources, India's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki will introduce about 20 new models into the already congested car market in coming five years. 

To maintain competitiveness and market share, the company will concentrate on the launch of low cost models, with 70-80% of its future offerings likely to be in the small car segment.


All models were planned, while 5 models are at an advanced stage. Expected, Maruti Suzuki will likely introduce the Swift Dzire at the upcoming Auto Expo 2012 in Delhi.  Then, the company will also bring out R-III, an A Star variant, Ritz backlift, as well as Alto 800 by early 2013.

Besides, the company plans to invest Rs 1,000 to 1,500 crore on product development over the next three-five years, including its upcoming R&D unit at Rohtak. The Rohtak facility is expected to be fully functional by early 2014.
