Hyundai increases Production in the United States

In a press conference in Las Vegas, Hyundai’s U.S. corporate and product planning vice president, Mike O'Brien said: “We’ve now been able to secure production capacity to safely say that we will surpass 600,000 units,”.

Hyundai has increased capacity at all plants in the U.S., including the Sonata and Elantra facility in Montgomery, Alabama and the plant that will build the new Accent in South Korea. Earlier this year, Hyundai said it could not produce enough to meet demand of customers, but some careful work with its production facilities has helped it reach the point where it should reach 600,000 units.

Not including its Kia brand, Hyundai has sold 263,588 cars so far this year in the U.S. - 29% increase over last year and by end of December, sales may exceed 630,000 units if demand continues at a similar pace.

Last year, Hyundai sold 538,228 cars in the United States.
