Developed by General Motors Technical Center in South America, the Cobalt Concept is expected to enter production within the next year. Temporarily, GM's press release doesn’t mention anything about the Cobalt's platform, but judging from the size of the car, the Chevy Cobalt appears to be based on the Chevrolet Sonic.
According to GM, the Cobalt will be sold globally offering buyers a choice of four cylinder engines, from 1.3 to 1.8-liter, with automatic transmissions or manual gearbox, running on ethanol, gasoline or diesel.
The Cobalt concept is equipped with an aero kit comprising of front and rear aprons, a discreet boot lid spoiler, 17-inch alloy wheels and twin exhaust outlets. The interior has also been upgraded with plush two-tone leather seats, twin sunroof and even an infotainment system with LCD screens integrated.
