Porsche Panamera Diesel Returns 6.3-liter/100 km

European customers will soon have the option of ordering a diesel version of Porsche Panamera. The most fuel-efficient model of the Panamera is equipped a 3.0-liter V6 TDI engine, employing common rail direct injection technology and electrically controlled variable geometry turbochargers.

The six-cylinder unit produces a maximum capacity of 250 hp between 3,800 rpm and 4,400 rpm and 550 Nm of torque between 1,750 rpm and 2,750 rpm. The engine is hooked up to a 8-speed Tiptronic S gearbox, start/stop system. Beside, Porsche Panamera Diesel is offered exclusively with rear-wheel drive.


With the standard tires, the Panamera Diesel fuel consumption of 6.5-liter/100 km, CO2 emissions of 172 g/km. Meanwhile, the two numbers corresponding for the low rolling resistance tires: 6.3-liter/100 km and 167 g/km. The 80-liter tank allows a theoretical range in excess of 1,200 kilometers (746 miles).

Compared to the Panamera Hybrid unveiled at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, it is even fuel efficient. Specifically, the Panamera Hybrid used 3.0-liter V6 TSI engine, capacity of 333 hp, an electric motor with capacity of 47 hp and low rolling resistance tires. Porsche Panamera Hybrid fuel consumption of 6.8-liter/100 km, CO2 emissions of 159 g/km.

Porsche says the Panamera Diesel can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.8 seconds before reaching a top speed of 242 km/h.

Expected, the Panamera Diesel will start on the European market in August with with prices starting from € 80,183 ($ 119,200) in Germany and from £ 62,134 ($ 92,300) in the UK.
