Porsche 918 Spyder Sold Out

According to a Dutch Porsche dealership, the new Porsche 918 Spyder has been sold out. Previous, the ordering of Porsche 918 Spyder started late March, 2011. Surprisingly, in less than two months, all the 918 Spyder has been sold out. Porsche will sell at least two of these unique sports cars in the Netherlands.

As its name, the production will be limited to 918 cars. The 918 Spyder was developed based on the concept revealed at the Geneva Motor Show 2010. Starting prices in the United States will be $ 845,000 and € 645,000 in Europe, subject to VAT and country-specific charges.


The 918 Spyder will be equipped a plug-in hybrid system, a mid-mounted 4.0-liter V8 engine, capacity of 500 hp. Power will be transferred to the rear wheels via 7-speed PDK (Porsche-Doppelkupplung) double-clutch gearbox. Beside, the engine also received support by two electric motors, one each on the front and rear axle with total capacity of 218 hp.

Porsche 918 Spyder accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 320 km/h. The top speed on purely electric power is 150 km/h.
