Mercedes put the direct fuel injection technology into the V6 and V8 engine to achieve higher capacity. This solution was applied on the S-class.
The first is the E350 version with a new 3.5-liter V6 engine, capacity of 302 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque, up 13 hp and 5 Nm. Thus, the sedan accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h.
Mercedes announced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are down 20% compared to the old engine with the parameters 6.8-7 liters per 100 km and 159-164 g/km.
Next, the E500 version is equipped with 4.6-liter V8 twin-turbo engine, capacity of 402 hp and 600 Nm of torque, up 20 horsepower and 70 Nm. The higher capacity, but the new engine has reduced fuel consumption by 17%, averaging 8.9-liter per 100 kilometers. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds.
Other versions of the E-class will be equipped a Start/Stop system - increasingly more popular in the car.
