Ford and Ambitions in the Chinese Market

Ford has announced an ambitious plan for the Chinese market, with the aim of introducing 15 new cars and doubling the number of employees in the world's largest car market by 2015.

“Together with our partners, we are leveraging the strength of the One Ford plan and our global platforms to bring 15 new cars to China by 2015, reinforcing our commitment to offer a full portfolio of vehicles for our Chinese customers," Joe Hinrichs, Ford Asia Pacific and Africa president said. "The 15 new cars are part of Ford’s plans to introduce 50 new products and new engine to the Asia Pacific region by 2015,” Hinrichs added.


To achieve this ambitious goal, Ford will double the number of dealerships in China, from current 340, to around 680. The first of the 15 new models to be introduced in the world's largest car market is the all-new Ford Focus, was put into commercial production in 2012 at the factory has been invested to $ 490 million. Annual capacity of this factory is 150,000 units.

Ford also said that it will double its professional workforce in China by 2015, adding 1,200 new workers. Only this year, Ford will add 550 jobs in departments such as production, marketing, service, finance, information technology, communications ...

Ford's investments in China are very important as the company expects 70 percent of its growth in the next ten years to come from Asia Pacific and Africa region.
