2011 Chevrolet Volt launches in Germany market with a price is said to compete with Ampera plug-in hybrid.
2011 Volt is equipped with full amenities, luxury leather interior and 160,000 km warranty (8 years) for Voltec engine and lithium-ion battery similar to the U.S. market (GM announced at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show).
Mr. Wayne Brannon, Chevrolet Europe president, said, "Volt 2011 is the best solution in the world today in the electric vehicle segment, and will appear in other markets in the European in November this year with rates based on the version for the U.S. market."
Meanwhile, the Opel Ampera version be marketed at prices starting at € 42,900 ($ 59,885), higher than the 2011 Chevrolet Volt than $ 1,000.
On technical parameters, the electric motor fitted to both models have a capacity of 150 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in about 9 seconds, top speed is possible to achieve 161 km/h. When running in full electric mode, two models can be run from 40 to 80 km, and continues to complete the 600 km when using the gasoline engine combined with electric motors. This battery can be recharged easily with household 230V power outlet in three to four hours.
