Not much changed from the concept appeared at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2009, the new MINI Roadster promises to become a valuable option in the segment was dominated by the Mazda MX-5.
Body design is low, wide and longer than the original concept, the new MINI roadster has added a rear wing. Besides, this model share many characteristics of the Copper S, such as headlights, grille, while the A-pillars are steeply raked to give a more aerodynamic look. Much like an MX-5’s hood, it is folded simply and neatly behind the occupants’ heads.
Under the bonnet, the same engine as the Copper S - 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, capacity of 175 horsepower. While official performance figures have yet to be released, but as expected, time to accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) about 7 seconds, top speed around 225 km/h (140 mph).
Expected to be present on the market early next year with prices around £ 18,000 but expect MINI to officially reveal the production version before the end of the year.
